Blogrolling sucks

Anybody know of another "blogroll" thing I can use? Blogrolling has been on the fritz for a while now and was pretty eratic in the past. Since I'm not using the cookie-cutter blogger template, I don't know if I can just plug that one in. I liked the fact that blogrolling used to show when blogs updated, but that was hit or miss too. And I won't go back to using GoogleReader. I like actually seeing the blogs. I tended to get lazy about posting comments on sites that really caught my interest.
